Privacy

neutrino-physics.com is a non-commercial research portal on neutrino physics. We collect as little personal data as technically possible, and we load no tracking scripts unless you explicitly consent. This page describes what is stored, when, and by whom.

At a glance

  • No personal data is collected by the site itself.
  • No tracking scripts load before your explicit consent via the cookie banner.
  • System fonts only — no requests to Google Fonts, Adobe Fonts, or similar.
  • KaTeX stylesheet loads from a public CDN (jsdelivr) with Subresource-Integrity verification.
  • If you consent, Google Analytics 4 loads in anonymous-IP mode.
  • Search is performed entirely in your browser — no search queries leave your device.
  • You can withdraw or change your cookie consent at any time via the banner or by clearing your browser's site storage.

Data controller

This site is operated on a non-commercial basis. For questions about data handling or to exercise your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), please contact us via the address on the Contact page.

Server logs

The site is hosted in Germany on shared infrastructure provided by webgo GmbH & Co. KG. Like all web servers, the host records standard access log entries when a request is served — typically the requesting IP address, the requested URL, the browser user-agent string, the HTTP status code, the referring URL, and the date and time.

These logs are generated automatically by the web server software (Apache). They are used for security and troubleshooting purposes, not merged with other data, and not shared with third parties by us. The hosting provider's retention and handling policy applies to the log files; see webgo's privacy notice.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest — secure and functional operation of the site).

Cookies and local storage

The site itself does not set any cookies by default. The only item stored locally in your browser is your cookie-consent choice — saved in the browser's localStorage under the key np_cookie_consent with the value accepted or declined. This is necessary so that the consent banner does not reappear on every page reload.

To withdraw or change your choice: clear your browser's site storage for this domain, or in your browser's Developer Tools delete the np_cookie_consent entry. The banner will then reappear on your next visit.

Analytics (with consent only)

If — and only if — you click Accept in the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand aggregate usage of the site. The following data is transmitted in that case:

  • Requested page URL, referrer, timestamp
  • Browser, device class, operating system, screen resolution, approximate language
  • Anonymized IP address (the final octet is removed before further processing — configured via the anonymize_ip flag)
  • A randomized client identifier stored as a first-party cookie by the Google Tag script

Processor: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Data may be transferred to Google servers in the United States under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.

Retention: GA4 user-level and event-level data is configured for 2 months (Google's minimum) — the shortest retention Google Analytics currently allows.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and §25(1) TTDSG (consent). If you do not click Accept, no GA script is loaded and no data is sent.

The search feature is powered by Pagefind, a static-site search library. The search index is pre-generated at build time and shipped with the site. When you type a query, your browser loads index shards from this domain and performs the search locally. No query, no result, and no usage data leaves your device for the purpose of search.

External resources

The site loads one external asset at page-load time:

  • KaTeX stylesheetcdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/katex@0.16.11/dist/katex.min.css. This file provides typography for mathematical equations. It is loaded with a Subresource-Integrity (SRI) hash so the browser verifies the file has not been modified. The CDN (jsDelivr, operated by ProspectOne s.r.o.) receives the request header from your browser. jsDelivr's privacy notice: jsdelivr.com/terms/privacy-policy-jsdelivr-net.

No other third-party assets — no Google Fonts, no social-media embeds, no advertising networks, no tracking pixels, no video players, no chat widgets.

Contact

The Contact page provides an email address. If you write to us, your message and email address are used solely to process your enquiry, kept for as long as necessary, and not shared with third parties. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (pre-contractual measures) or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest).

Your rights under the GDPR

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port the personal data we hold about you, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority. For residents of Germany, the competent authority is the state data-protection commissioner of your federal state; a list is available at bfdi.bund.de.

Where processing is based on your consent (the cookie banner), you may withdraw that consent at any time; withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
